- Ir + a + place: Voy a casa. Vamos a la playa.
- a + el = al: Vamos al cine. (never a el cine)
- Questions: ¿Adónde vas? means 'Where are you going?'

Present tense of ir, tener and hacer
| yo | tú | él / ella | nosotros | vosotros | ellos / ellas | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ir | voy | vas | va | vamos | vais | van |
| tener | tengo | tienes | tiene | tenemos | tenéis | tienen |
| hacer | hago | haces | hace | hacemos | hacéis | hacen |
The 'go' trick
Tener and hacer have a g in the yo form: tengo, hago. Think 'I GO with a G!' And ir starts with v: voy, vas, va... Also, tener changes e to ie in tienes, tiene, tienen, but not in tenemos and tenéis.
Common mistakes
- Regular forms: yo tieno or yo haco are wrong. Say tengo and hago.
- Age with ser: Soy veinte años is wrong. Use tener: Tengo veinte años.
- a + el: Voy a el cine is wrong. Join them: Voy al cine.
