Free DELE practice tests: official sample papers by level

The Instituto Cervantes publishes sample exams and information for each level. I link to the official source instead of copying it, so you always get the latest version.

The Instituto Cervantes is renewing its exam website, and the sample papers are not available at their old addresses right now. For the moment I link to the official DELE page, and I will add direct links to each paper as soon as they are published again.

DELE B1 practice test

Use it to check your timing and the format of each task. → Official DELE page

You can also practise here for free, with instant marking and an explanation for every answer: the B1 reading practice test (5 tasks, 30 questions) and the B1 listening practice test (5 tasks, 30 questions, each recording played twice). They are original models written by Delesiele, not official exams of the Instituto Cervantes.

DELE C1 practice exam

C1 includes integrated tasks (reading or listening plus writing or speaking). Practise them as a whole, not skill by skill. → Official DELE page

How to use a DELE practice exam: step by step

Doing a paper is not the same as using it well. Here’s how I recommend working.

Take it under real exam conditions

  • Set a timer for the real duration of each test.
  • No dictionary, no pauses and no phone.
  • Do the full paper, not only your favourite tasks.

If you do it relaxed, the result doesn’t tell you where you are.

Mark your answers and review your mistakes

For reading and listening, check the answers and ask why you got each wrong:

  • Did you misunderstand the text or the question?
  • Did you run out of time?
  • Was it vocabulary, or a trap in the options?

Write down the pattern. It tells you what to practise next.

Get feedback on your writing and speaking

This is where most students stay stuck. You can’t mark your own writing or speaking objectively, and an answer key doesn’t exist for them.

Ask a teacher who knows the criteria to correct your texts and your spoken answers. That’s what my mock exam is for.

How DELE exams are marked: what examiners look for

As a DELE examiner certified by the Instituto Cervantes, I know what matters when a text or an oral answer is marked.

What examiners look for in written tasks

  • Task fulfilment: did you do what was asked, in the right type of text?
  • Coherence and organisation: clear structure and connected ideas.
  • Range and accuracy: varied vocabulary and structures, with control.
  • Register and length: the right tone and the required number of words.

What examiners look for in the oral exam

  • Fluency: speaking without long pauses.
  • Accuracy and range: correct and varied language.
  • Organisation and interaction: structured ideas and a natural response to the examiner.
  • Pronunciation and intonation: enough to be understood easily.

What students say about our DELE preparation

25 reviews

The classes with Cristina are very well prepared. My focus is on taking the DELE test; in each class she brings a different topic to analyse and explains how to do each task of the test and how long each task takes. I am very happy with her classes.

Patrícia · May 2026

She shares her own materials that make it very clear how to approach any task: common expressions, connectors, typical mistakes to watch out for. Thanks to the classes with her, I feel confident that I will face the DELE C1 exam without stress.

Kuba · September 2026

She is helping me prepare for the DELE C1, adapts the classes to my needs and explains everything very well. The classes are very useful and dynamic.

Frequently asked questions about DELE practice exams

Where can I find free DELE practice tests?

The Instituto Cervantes publishes official sample papers by level, and I link to them on this page so you always get the latest versions. The official sample exams for each level are listed on the official DELE levels page. For the SIELE, the official site offers a demo.

Are there DELE practice tests with answers?

Official samples usually include what you need to check reading and listening. Writing and speaking can’t be checked with an answer key: they need feedback from someone who knows the criteria.

Can I do a DELE practice exam online?

Yes. On this site you can do a free B2 reading and listening practice test online, with instant marking. The same goes for the B1 reading and B1 listening practice tests. There are C1 reading and listening practice tests too. There are C2 reading and listening practice tests too. Some official materials are also available online, depending on the level. For the SIELE you can take the official demo on the SIELE website.

How should I use a DELE practice exam?

Take it under real exam conditions: timer, no dictionary and no pauses. Mark your answers and look for the pattern in your mistakes. Then get feedback on your writing and speaking from a teacher. Just doing papers isn’t enough; what matters is what you do with the result.

How many practice exams should I do before the real DELE?

It depends on your level and time. One full mock exam in real conditions is the minimum I recommend. More important than the number is reviewing mistakes and fixing the pattern each time.

Which DELE level should I practise?

The one your goal requires. If you’re not sure, start with a trial lesson and I’ll tell you your current level.

What is a mock exam with examiner feedback?

It’s a rehearsal of the real day. You do a full timed exam of your level and I mark it as an examiner would. You get a written report with strengths, weak points and what to fix first.

What do DELE examiners look for in the writing and speaking tests?

In writing: whether you complete the task, coherence and organisation, range and accuracy of language, and the right register and length. In speaking: fluency, accuracy and range, organisation of ideas, interaction and pronunciation.

Do you offer DELE practice exams for all levels?

I prepare A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2, and the mock exam is available for those levels. For A1 you can use the official samples from the Instituto Cervantes.

How much does your mock exam cost?

The mock exam is part of my DELE preparation course. If your exam date is close, you can also book a 90-minute exam strategy session for €42. See the pricing page for all prices.

Ready to move from practice to preparation?

If you’ve done a sample paper and want to know where you stand, book a trial lesson or a mock exam. See also the DELE preparation course.
