What is the DELE B2 and who needs it?
The DELE B2 is an official Spanish diploma from the Instituto Cervantes. It certifies an independent, fluent user of Spanish: someone who can follow complex texts, take part in conversations with spontaneity and write clear, detailed texts.
- Level: B2 of the Common European Framework (CEFR).
- Skills tested: reading, listening, writing and speaking.
- Validity: the diploma doesn’t expire.
Students usually take the B2 to prove their Spanish for university, work or personal goals. Check the requirements of the institution that asks for your certificate before registering.
DELE B2 level: what you should be able to do
At B2 you can:
- Understand the main ideas of complex texts and talks on concrete and abstract topics.
- Hold a conversation with native speakers without much effort on either side.
- Defend an opinion, explain pros and cons and give reasons.
- Write clear texts: letters, articles and reports with connected arguments.
Is your Spanish ready for the DELE B2?
If you can talk about work or current affairs, but you still make mistakes with the subjunctive, prepositions or connectors, you are probably close. If you struggle to keep a conversation going, a few months of general lessons might come first.
Not sure? The trial lesson will tell us. Book a trial lesson.

DELE B2 exam structure: the tests you will practise
The exam has separate tests for each skill.
| Test | What you do | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Reading comprehension | 4 tasks | 70 min |
| Listening comprehension | 5 tasks | 40 min |
| Written expression and interaction | 2 tasks | 80 min |
| Oral expression and interaction | Oral tasks with the examiner | 20 min + 20 min preparation |
Reading and listening comprehension
Both tests check understanding. Your aim is to find the information you need quickly and to avoid the distractors in the answer options.
Written expression and interaction
You write texts on given situations. Examiners look at how well you complete the task, how accurate and varied your language is and how clear your text is.
Oral expression and interaction
You speak with the examiner and complete tasks, including a presentation based on a prompt. Fluency, accuracy and how you organise your ideas count.
How the DELE B2 is scored and what you need to pass
The result is pass or fail. To pass, you need at least 60 points out of 100, and at least 30 points out of 50 in each of the two groups of tests (reading and written expression; listening and oral expression).

What our DELE B2 preparation includes
1-on-1 live classes on Google Meet
One hour, just you and me, fully in Spanish. We choose times that fit you, with no fixed course calendar.
Task-by-task strategy and time management
In each class we take one or more exam tasks. I explain what the task asks, how to split your time, which language to use and what usually goes wrong.
Writing corrections and speaking feedback from a DELE examiner
I correct your written tasks and your spoken answers with the logic examiners use. You get a short list of what to fix first, so you work where it counts.
Connectors, expressions and common mistakes
I share my own materials: expressions for each task, connectors to link arguments and the typical mistakes at B2. We use them in class and you revise them at home.
Full mock exam under timed conditions
At the end of the preparation we do a timed mock exam. I mark it and we review it together. See our DELE practice exam page.
How to prepare for the DELE B2: tips for each test
These tips come from my work as a teacher and examiner.
Reading comprehension: managing your time
- Read the questions before the text, so you know what to look for.
- Don’t get stuck: mark a hard question and come back.
- Be careful with options that repeat words from the text but change the meaning.
Listening comprehension: training your ear
- Use the time before each audio to read the options and predict the topic.
- Listen to varied Spanish: different accents, speeds and registers.
- Practise listening for the idea, not word by word.
Writing: structure, connectors and register
- Answer exactly what the task asks. Completing the task is the first thing that matters.
- Organise your text: introduction, development, conclusion.
- Use connectors that fit your meaning, not a memorised list.
- Choose the right register: formal for a letter to a company, informal for a friend.
Speaking: using your preparation time well
- Make a short outline: introduction, two or three points, conclusion.
- Speak calmly. A fluent answer with a small mistake is better than a perfect, hesitant one.
- If you forget a word, rephrase and keep going.
How long does it take to prepare for the DELE B2?
It depends on your starting level, your weekly time and your exam date. I won’t give you a magic number. I can say that regularity beats cramming: studying a little each week works better than a rushed last month.
An example preparation plan
- First weeks: level check, work on weak points and a first look at every task.
- Middle weeks: practice by test, with corrections of writing and speaking.
- Final weeks: timed tasks, a mock exam and a review of the mistakes that repeat.
How many hours a week do you need?
One or two lessons a week plus study between lessons is a realistic base for most students. If you have a tight deadline, we can raise the frequency. After the level check I’ll give you a concrete recommendation.
Common mistakes that make candidates fail the DELE B2
- Not answering the task. A beautiful text that ignores the instructions loses points.
- Memorised templates. Examiners notice texts that don’t fit the situation.
- Wrong register. Informal language in a formal task, or the opposite.
- Poor time management. Spending too long on one task and rushing the rest.
- Repeating the same structures. At B2 you need variety and accuracy.
- Freezing in the oral exam. The solution is to practise out loud, with feedback.
Why prepare for the DELE B2 with a certified examiner
I’m Cristina, a native Spanish teacher from Spain.
- DELE examiner certified by the Instituto Cervantes.
- Master’s degree in teaching Spanish as a foreign language (Universidad de La Rioja).
- More than five years teaching individual and group classes.
I know what examiners expect, so I don’t spend your time on what doesn’t matter. And my lessons are a safe place to make mistakes, because that is how you learn.

What students say about our DELE preparation
25 reviews
The classes with Cristina are very well prepared. My focus is on taking the DELE test; in each class she brings a different topic to analyse and explains how to do each task of the test and how long each task takes. I am very happy with her classes.
She shares her own materials that make it very clear how to approach any task: common expressions, connectors, typical mistakes to watch out for. Thanks to the classes with her, I feel confident that I will face the DELE C1 exam without stress.
Her classes are very dynamic, clear and well structured. She stands out both in oral conversation classes, helping you gain fluency and confidence when speaking, and in DELE exam preparation, thanks to her organised methodology and her deep knowledge of the exam format.

Is my Spanish ready for the DELE B2?
If you can talk about work or current affairs but still make mistakes with the subjunctive, prepositions or connectors, you’re probably close. If keeping a conversation going is hard, a few months of general lessons might come first. The trial lesson gives you an honest answer.
How is the DELE B2 structured?
It has separate tests for the four skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, written expression and interaction, and oral expression and interaction. In class we practise each task type with real timing.
What does your DELE B2 preparation include?
One-to-one live classes on Google Meet, strategy for every task and time management, corrections of your writing and speaking from a DELE examiner, my own materials with connectors, expressions and typical mistakes, and a full timed mock exam at the end. We plan it around your exam date.
How long does it take to prepare for the DELE B2?
It depends on your starting level, your weekly time and your exam date. I won’t give you a magic number, but regularity beats cramming: studying a little each week works better than a rushed last month. One or two lessons a week plus study between classes is a realistic base for most students.
What are the most common mistakes that make candidates fail?
Not answering exactly what the task asks, using memorised templates that don’t fit the situation, choosing the wrong register, poor time management and freezing in the oral exam. We work on each of them with feedback so they don’t surprise you on exam day.
Can I prepare for the DELE B2 on my own?
You can study alone, but self-study can’t correct your writing or your speaking, and that’s where most students lose points. A teacher helps most there. Many students combine self-study with one-to-one feedback.
Can I prepare for the DELE B2 online?
Yes. All my lessons are live and online on Google Meet, from anywhere in the world. The exam itself is taken separately. You can check the options and dates on the official DELE site.
Can you guarantee I will pass the DELE B2?
No. What I can promise is a clear method, honest feedback from a certified examiner and practice with every task before the day. The result also depends on your work and on exam day.
How much does your DELE B2 preparation cost?
A single lesson costs €28, and packs of 10 or 20 lower the price per lesson. The trial lesson with a level diagnosis lasts 30 minutes and costs €10. The exam fee is not included. See the pricing page for details.
